The concept is predicated on rearranging the predefined volume, with the object of adjusting its scale and opening the central courtyard to the public space. To this end, it was decided to separate the lower of the three bodies, maintaining the connection between the higher two bodies in a corner which forms a node in the urban boundary. The actual housing units are constructed using one single module for the day area, one for the night-time area and one for the vertical communication cores, which can be combined to form several possible L-shaped units, by interlocking the bedrooms from different units. Given the impossibility of choosing the orientation, the day areas are illuminated and ventilated with flow-through floor plans. During the hot season, these spaces can be transformed into large open-air terraces running from one end of the building to another. The balconies on the façades are protected by aluminium lattice screens, functioning as ventilated “thick walls” which insulate the interior space from the outside temperature.
