The meandering layout of the streets in the old quarter of Teruel seems to have no particular order or arrangement, winding among the houses that give shape to them. The proposal follows this same concept, with a view to incorporating the new museum into the town’s spatial system as yet another street juncture, therefore accepting its public character. The inside of the building extends towards the outside space, converging with it. The ground level houses the exhibition spaces set aside for touring shows, which are, in turn, transformed into ambiguous spaces, halfway between the museum and street. The breaks in the continuity of the volume once again mirrors the urban layout: joining the new construction to the adjacent buildings and contributing to the arrangement of uses and capturing of natural light. The old Marqués de Tosos Palace and this new construction are seamlessly fused, dissolving into one single building, which takes on the prominence of the former, consolidating it as the origin of a whole which emerges from the presence of its corner, topped by the imposing wooden eave.
