The brief consists of the extension of an existing training centre with a workshop for teaching industrial ceramic methods. Two workshops of the existing building are remodelled, while a new space is built to house most of the specific machinery, adapting to the 10-metre headroom required by the filters and atomizer. This new volume is conceived as a definitive, final piece that rounds off the serialised workshops of the existing building. It is a quasi-independent, singularised space whose roofing is folded in search of the northern light. The perimeter is elevated from the ground to allow the inside to appropriate the outside, thus avoiding the introspection so distinctive of production spaces. The construction systems are very simple, straightforward and economic: metallic structure, industrial roofing, precast concrete braced frames, laminated glass and concrete flooring.
